Phoenix Day School for the Deaf Class of 2012

On May 23, the Phoenix Alumnae Chapter presented a cash award to Selene Rivas, valedictorian of the Phoenix Day School for the Deaf's Class of 2012, which this year numbered 23. In this photo she has just received her diploma.

Representing the chapter at the ceremony were alums Ann Haggerty, Mary Peterson, Karen Lange, Nicole Spurling, Karla Rasmusson, Dusty Tingstrom, and Ann Santos.

Rock Star Ruben

The breeder nicknamed Ruben, our Bernese mountain dog, "Rock Star”. Ruben may not have a singing career but he seems to be a star with Petsmart.

 

Currently in most Petsmarts, you can see the enclosed display above the toy aisle featuring Ruben on a dog bed. He is also in a “Did you know” video segment. 

We were at a closed Petsmart store all night for the video shoot, but he is only featured in the last few seconds--the well-trained Ruben looks like he belongs to the male stranger shopping in the store. Petsmart provided the wardrobe of blue collar and matching leash. When on the link click the “Hip & Joint” segment as that is the only one featuring our “star”.

Ruben enjoys the photo shoots. He loves to get a bath and all the prep getting handsome. Petsmart folks love seeing him and know him by name when at the various shoots. And he is a star in our home and hearts.

A New Arrival

Phoenix alum Cathy Sewell and her husband Mike are the proud new parents of Mason David Sewell, born on May 14. Mason weighed 8 lb 1 oz. Congratulations and best wishes!

Here's hoping all our beautiful alumnae moms had a fabulous day full of love! 

News from the Phoenix Panhellenic Association

Congrats to Phoenix alum Sue Pickles, who was installed last night as Vice President of the Phoenix Panhellenic Association. Next year she will be President! Thanks, Sue, for representing Delta Zeta so well!

Congrats also to Pi Zeta President Courtney Witt, who received a PPA scholarship at the awards dinner. Other Pi Zetas who received PPA scholarships but were not present were Rachel McBride and Molly Snittjer. Delta Zeta alums Karen Lange, Paige Pawlikow, Julia Garleb, Deb Willey, Sidney Sather and Ann Santos also attended.

May 23rd is the graduation ceremony for the Phoenix Day School for the Deaf Class of 2012. The Phoenix Alumnae Chapter will present a scholarship, the Claudia Hosking Memorial, to one of the seniors. We would like a good alumnae representation, so please try to attend this very rewarding occasion. Will share location details when available. It's off site this year due to the large size of the class.
